Powell Admits Possibility Iraq had no WMD
Yes, I've been open to the possibility that Saddam never actually had WMD. I know that the Bush administration is still under the belief that he did, despite Kay's recent claims that he believed Saddam didn't have any WMDs. I know that our intelligence community may have made a mistake in assuming that Saddam had weapons in his possession.
I know all of this, and yet I still support the President and the Iraqi War.
It is an incontrevertible fact that Saddam had the programs running. The evidence has been found. Those programs were in violation of countless U.N. resolutions and the cease fire agreement that ended the Gulf War in 1991. If you want to disagree that the programs were suffiecient reason to go into Iraq, fine.
But our President and this country had every right to depose Saddam. If he did not have WMDs, then we could not allow him to develop them. And the position that the President went in for the oil or to settle a score is simply unsupported by the facts. If you wish to argue the point, comment on this entry. I assure you that I can counter any argument that you may have.
Official Dig The D news: I realized that I'm simply not going to be able to make every single entry about the Presidential nominee candidates. The amount of reading and research I do while writing each entry makes it way too draining to do daily. I've spent about 3 hours doing each candidate so far. I'll try to do someone tommorrow, probably Al Sharpton (and woo-hoo, won't that will be fun.)
